The Kid Mero is calling out people who are celebrating Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson's breakup.
During Monday’s episode (April 27) of Mornings with Mero on Hot 97, Mero and his co-hosts reacted to the headline-heavy split between the 31-year-old Traumazine rapper and the Dallas Mavericks star, 36.
“If you're one of those people that is looking at this as like a sporting event, like, 'Yo, the City Boys is up,’ you're a weirdo, bro,” he said at the 2:35 mark in the video linked here.
He added, "I mean, listen, they're public people so it comes with the territory. If you rap and you're famous and you have a relationship with somebody, people are going to talk about it. Nobody cares about who l'm married to, l'm just a Dominican guy with a regular job.”
Further into the segment, Mero suggested, “Megan, Klay, listen: just text each other on the side, take us out the group chat. Send encrypted messages to each other, figure it out. Get the PR thing, figure it out.”
“She could have been a victim of love bombing. Klay is a lightskinned dude, you know what l'm saying?” Mero joked. “He could have been laying around mad thick, you know he could have been hitting her with R&B quotes."
Last weekend, Megan accused Thompson of cheating and describing "horrible mood swings" during the basketball season through a post shared to her Instagram Story.
She later confirmed the breakup in a statement shared to Complex via her rep: “I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay. Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward. I’m taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity.”
Amid the fallout, Megan, who has been performing in Moulin Rouge! on Broadway since last month, became visibly emotional during a curtain call just hours following the news of her breakup.
Megan also announced she will exit the production earlier than planned, with her final performance scheduled for Friday (May 1).
Megan and Klay had gone public in July 2025, and the breakup has drawn passionate reactions from figures including DJ Akademiks, Mase, Ebro Darden, Stephen A. Smith, and the official account for the popular video game, The Sims.
Some fans of the “Plan B” rapper alleged they were contacting Etsy witches, presumably to hex the NBA star.
Amidst all of the online chatter, WNBA star Lexie Brown issued a statement shutting down speculation linking her to the split.
