A visibly emotional Megan Thee Stallion took the stage for Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Broadway after she announced her split from Klay Thompson.
The rapper, who has been performing in the role of Zidler since March, broke down in tears during the show’s curtain call after the Saturday night (April 26) performance.
As seen in clips shared on social media, fans cheered in support of the “Plan B” rapper. She had accused the NBA star of infidelity and “horrible mood swings” in an Instagram post hours earlier.
Per reports online, Megan did not take the stage for Saturday’s 2 p.m. matinee of Moulin Rouge. Patrick Clanton, a standby for the role of Zidler, performed in her place. Clanton will also appear in the Sunday (April 26) performance following Megan’s previously announced absence from the show.
“Cheating, had me around your whole family playing house... got ‘cold feet,’” Megan wrote on her Instagram story early Saturday afternoon. “Holding you down through all your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season now you don't know if you can be ‘monogamous’???? bitch I need a REAL break after this one .. bye yall.”
Through her rep, Megan also told Complex in a statement: “I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay. Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward. I’m taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity.”
Last July, the former couple went public with their relationship when Thompson accompanied the rapper to her inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation benefit gala.
When Megan joined the Broadway cast of Moulin Rouge! in March, she became the first woman to play the role of Zidler since the show’s opening in June 2019. She will depart the cast on May 17, and the Broadway production will run until August 30.
