Drake

Drake, born Aubrey Drake Graham on October 24, 1986, in Toronto, Canada, is one of the most influential music artists of the 2010s. His rise to fame began in the late 2000s, but it was during the 2010s that he solidified his status as a global superstar. His debut studio album, Thank Me Later, released in 2010, marked the start of his dominance in the hip-hop and pop landscape. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and showcased Drake’s unique ability to blend introspective lyrics with catchy melodies. His distinct style set him apart from other artists of the time. In 2011, Drake released Take Care, which many consider his defining work. The album, featuring hit singles like "Marvins Room" and "The Motto," received critical acclaim and won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. It was during this period that Drake's signature sound—emotional, melodic rap infused with R&B—became more mainstream, influencing a new wave of artists. Throughout the 2010s, Drake’s albums continued to dominate the charts. Nothing Was the Same (2013) cemented his place as one of the top figures in music, with hits like "Started from the Bottom." In 2015, he released the surprise mixtape If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, which became an instant commercial success. The following year, Views (2016) produced some of his biggest hits, including "One Dance" and "Hotline Bling," and earned him massive global recognition. Drake’s ability to consistently produce chart-topping songs, paired with his embrace of streaming platforms, helped redefine how music was consumed in the 2010s. By the end of the decade, he had become one of the most streamed artists of all time, with an unmatched influence on the sound and direction of hip-hop and pop music.
