Ebro Darden has spoken out following the news that The Kid Mero will take over the Hot 97 morning slot previously occupied by Ebro in the Morning, which came to an end last month after a nearly 13-year run.

"Shout to @TheKidMero …. This is great!" Darden wrote in a post on X on Monday (Jan. 12) with a salute emoji.

Mero responded to Darden's show of support shortly after, writing, "LETS GET IT!!" with prayer hand emojis.

Even though he did not explicitly mention the radio station's former show Ebro in the Morning in his press release, The Kid Mero did acknowledge the significance of the Hot 97 morning slot and his "responsibility to continue that legacy."

"Hot 97 is the station—it's been the voice of NYC hip-hop and culture for decades," Mero said. "I grew up listening to Hot 97, so to get the morning slot here isn't just a job—it's a responsibility to continue that legacy while bringing it into this next era of media."

Darden revealed Ebro in the Morning had been unceremoniously canceled last month with a post on X that simply stated, "It's done. More to come."

His co-host, Peter Rosenberg, followed up with a post in looking back fondly at his time on the show.

"I lived out a childhood dream and it was amazing," Rosenberg wrote.

Darden later speculated that his progressive views and opposition to Israel's prime minister led to the dismissal of Ebro in the Morning.

"They need my shit talking, anti-Netanyahu, anti-government, progressive shit out of the way, bro," he said. "They need me out of the way."

Aside from seemingly celebrating the end of Ebro in the Morning with an axe emoji, Drake allegedly sent Darden a DM that read, "Die slower pussy." In another message, the rapper allegedly wrote, "We got some shit for u."
