Ebro Shares Wild DM He Got From Drake: 'Die Slower P*ssy. We Got Some Sh*t for You’

It looks like an axe emoji wasn't Drizzy's only response.

Ebro Darden has revealed Drake's reaction to the cancelation of Hot 97's Ebro in the Morning show — and it goes far beyond an axe emoji.

In the first episode of a revamped version of the show, now titled The Ebro Laura Rosenberg Show and available on YouTube, Darden shared DMs he says Drizzy sent him following the news. They're visible at the 33:37 mark of the video below.

"Die slower pussy," one reads. That's followed up by another one: "We got some shit for u."

Ebro's response: "Relax. You're salty about losing to Kendrick. You're not mad at me... Love bro."

Earlier in the episode, Ebro shared circa-2020 Drake DMs, which were a lot more complimentary.

Prior to the radio host sharing the DMs, Drizzy's response to Ebro in the Morning ending came in the form of an Instagram comment.

After Darden posted an explanation about his show's cancelation, Toronto-based media outlet Keep6ixSolid reposted the video on Instagram, with the caption “RIP Ebro in the morning.” Drizzy popped up in the comments, dropping an axe emoji.

Ebro in the Morning co-host Peter Rosenberg then hit back, posting on X, ""It's behavior like this that has made it impossible for people to defend the wack sh*t that he does.”

“But happy Hanukkah my one time pal," he continued. "I truly wish you well even if you're celebrating what you believe is our demise (spoiler alert -- we're about to be much bigger now that we won't be held back by a company that is and has been completely lost ever since they bought the station!)."

Ebro followed hours later with a brief post declaring, "Drake is 'right wing' and so is sAK [sic],” in reference to his rival and Drizzy loyalist Akademiks.

It was announced on Friday (Dec. 12) that Ebro’s long-running morning radio show, Ebro in the Morning, had been canceled by Hot 97. His co-hosts, Rosenberg and Laura Stylez, were also let go by the station.

In his video response, Ebro suggested the cancellation was tied to his progressive politics, saying that the owners of the radio station “don’t give a fuck about hip hop or black music or black community” and that they needed him "out of the way.”

Darden, as befits a hip-hop radio personality, has said a lot of things about Drake over the years, some of them not complimentary. In 2023, he responded to Drizzy's criticism of Childish Gambino's "This Is America" by saying, "Drake has never shown up to have anything to say about anything going on in society with Black folks or anything other than himself."

Some of Drake's defenders pointed out that he wrote an open letter about the police killing of 37-year-old Black man Alton Sterling in 2016.

"It’s impossible to ignore that the relationship between black and brown communities and law enforcement remains as strained as it was decades ago," Drake wrote at the time. "No one begins their life as a hashtag. Yet the trend of being reduced to one continues. This is real and I’m concerned... I do not know the answer. But I believe things can change for the better. Open and honest dialogue is the first step."

They also noted that the rap star has had harsh words for Donald Trump over the years, going so far as to call him a "fucking idiot" during a 2018 concert.

Earlier this year, Darden got pushback from some major artists when he went on an extended rant about hip-hop coverage, inspired by some of his issues with Drake. Bas and DJ Paul both responded with defenses of the 6ix God.
