Ebro Darden Appears to Criticize How Charlamagne Tha God Secured $200 Million Deal With IHeartRadio

Ebro suggested that 'The Breakfast Club' personality was "willing to do things" he wouldn't do for a $200 million iHeartRadio deal.

Ebro Darden appears to think that Charlamagne Tha God needed to drop his integrity to sign a $200 million deal with iHeartRadio.

Ebro, whose former Hot 97 program Ebro In the Morning was canceled earlier this month, spoke with Peter Rosenberg on the Tuesday (December 23) episode of The Ebro Laura Rosenberg Show about Charlamagne's new deal. While the media personality will continue to be a host on The Breakfast Club, the program will soon be on Netflix via iHeartRadio, along with Charlamagne expanding his Black Effect podcast network.

To Ebro, the agreement is too good to be true, and he compared Charlamagne's business moves to sports analyst Stephen A. Smith.

Around the 1:20 mark of the episode below, Ebro admitted that there's "so much positive" from Charlamagne's deal with iHeartRadio, but that he refuses to "propagate white supremacy," which he believes Charlamagne has done.

"There were things that Charlamagne was willing to do that I would've never done," he said. "Never. And, that's how you get to those big bags. It's the same with Stephen A. Smith. When Disney wants to give you money like that, you gotta do a dance I ain't willing to do."

He added, "But there are individuals who are willing to do that dance and that is rewarded financially in our society. It always has been," he said. "Or people who are just willing to at the wrong time be critical of a Black woman running for president of the United States."

Ebro pointed out that Charlamagne eventually supported former Vice President Harris on her presidential campaign last year, although he was first disapproving of her.

After Ebro and Rosenberg briefly spoke about other disastrous moments involving politicians that visited The Breakfast Club, Ebro denied saying that Charlamagne "shouldn't be proud" of himself.

"It's good, but it's also just something that I wasn't willing to do," Ebro continued. "I'm not saying people shouldn't celebrate. I'm not saying it's not great for podcasting and whatever you're doing as a creator. I'm not saying none of that. I just want people to pay attention to these things because to get to the big bags, the big bags, you got to do certain dances."

But others might not be onboard with Ebro's opinion, like Drake, who trolled Ebro after he severed ties with Hot 97.
