BIGBANG's Daesung and KARA's Hur Youngji are denying rumors that they’re dating.
The speculation began after the two K-pop idols were spotted sitting next to each other at Mamamoo’s concert in Seoul, South Korea, last week.
"They became closer after [appearing on his YouTube series] ZIP DAESUNG, and they went to watch Mamamoo’s concert together. They are just close peers, and the dating rumors are not true," said a source from Daesung’s agency, R&D Company, according to Soompi.
As seen in footage circulating online, Oh My Girl's Hyojung was also seated next to the pair at the event.
The two artists' connection gained attention after KARA's Youngji and Jiyoung appeared on an episode of ZIP DAESUNG in September.
In a later episode, Daesung revealed that his bandmate, Taeyang, encouraged him to pursue a relationship with Youngji.
"Taeyang saw my episode with Youngji,” he said in the episode. “He watched that one and told me we should hit it off."
Meanwhile, BIGBANG, now consisting of G-Dragon, Daesung, and Taeyang, recently performed at Coachella in April and will celebrate their 20th anniversary with a world stadium tour. The group is scheduled to perform 31 stadium shows across Asia, North America, Europe, and Australia beginning in August.
KARA, which reunited in 2022 for its 15th anniversary after a seven-year hiatus, have continued their individual activities. The members, including Gyuri, Seungyeon, Nicole, Jiyoung, and Youngji, are set to reunite for a fan meeting at Hong Kong's MacPherson Stadium on Aug. 8.
