KARA is gearing up for a big 2026 with hints of exciting plans for fans.
In a recent interview with Japanese outlet Hominis, the legendary K-pop girl group hinted at their plans for this year.
“We have a lot of activities planned for KARA this year,” member Han Seung-yeon told the outlet. Park Gyuri shared that she’s working to “show a new side” of herself and “spend lots of time” with fans.
Nicole Jung also said, "We have a lot of activities lined up, so we're really looking forward to them. We plan to visit you all a lot this year, so please look forward to it."
Kang Ji-young added, “We're thinking of lots of ways to spend time with our fans in various forms. I'm sure you'll be happy, so I hope you'll look forward to it.”
Hur Young-ji concluded, "We have a variety of events planned for this year as well. I'm really looking forward to spending a fun year with all of our fans."
KARA made their debut in 2007. The group’s most well-known lineup, consisting of Park Gyuri, Han Seung-yeon, Goo Hara, Nicole Jung, and Kang Ji-young achieved superstardom with hits like "Mister," "Lupin," and "STEP."
They became one of the defining second-generation girl groups and played a major role in spreading the Korean wave (“hallyu wave”) internationally.
While KARA enjoyed popularity in their native South Korea, the group accomplished unprecedented success in Japan.
KARA became the first South Korean girl group to perform at Japan’s prestigious Tokyo Dome in 2013, selling out all 45,000 seats in five minutes, per Soompi.
After another lineup change that saw the exits of Nicole and Ji-young, with Young-ji joining the group in 2014, KARA released hits "Mamma Mia" and "Cupid" before disbanding in 2016.
Following Goo Hara's death in 2019, the group remained inactive until 2022 when the surviving members reunited for the 15th anniversary mini-album Move Again, featuring the hit single “When I Move.”
In 2024, they released the single album I Do I Do, which included “Hello” with vocals from the late Goo Hara, making it group’s only release with all six KARA members.
The group then held the 2024 KARASIA Japan Tour with sold-out concerts in Tokyo and Osaka and continued in 2025 with the KARASIA Tour with more performances in Yokohama, Kobe, and Macau.
During a press conference in March 2025, Seung-yeon reflected, “Ever since our 15th anniversary activities, l've thought, 'This will probably be the last time,' and now three years have passed. Thankfully, many people have come.”
