Jennifer Lopez took away some important life lessons after her 2025 divorce from actor and director Ben Affleck.
The Office Romance star was a guest on the Monday (June 15) episode of podcast SmartLess and spoke about her split from Affleck after three years of marriage. The partnership was Lopez’s fourth marriage and Affleck’s second, taking place nearly two decades after their brief relationship from 2002-2004. The exes reconciled in 2022 nearly two decades after their first engagement, which they broke off months after initially postponing the wedding.
“After my last divorce, I just sat there and I canceled my tour and I sat there and I was just like, you need to fucking figure yourself out,” Lopez said around the 42-minute mark of the episode below. “What is going on with you? Forget about everybody else. There's nobody to blame here except yourself in a certain way.”
“Not that people don't behave in a way that's not great, but what are you doing?” Lopez continued, adding that the contemplation was a “turning point” for her.
Despite Lopez and Affleck’s divorce, the ex-spouses have remained close friends and occasional business partners, as it was Affleck who campaigned the “I’m Real” singer for the lead role in movie Kiss of the Spider-Woman. But the entertainer isn’t in a rush to enter a new relationship, which she’s reiterated in interviews. Last month, Lopez joked on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live that she would have gotten divorced “sooner” if given the chance.
“I'm not doing anything to ruin how I feel right now,” she continued. “I'll meet somebody somewhere one day if they’re good enough.”
