Just a month after revealing that his wife, Jenny Slatten, has ALS, 90 Day Fiancé star Sumit Singh is pushing back against criticism over the couple's decision to ask fans for financial help.

In a series of Instagram posts and videos shared on June 22, the TLC star explained why he and Jenny are seeking support as they navigate the realities of her diagnosis while living in India. Along with encouraging fans to book Cameos and donate via links in his bio, per Us Weekly, Singh made it clear that the couple hadn't previously asked for money.

“Money will not heal, but it will support and make life easier,” Singh said. “We never asked for money. We’ve struggled a lot many times but we’ve never asked and we need it now. That’s why we’re asking.”

The 38-year-old said his focus is on making life easier for his wife, who was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, in 2025. According to Singh, traveling for treatment presents a number of challenges.

“I’m trying to make her life as easy as possible,” he explained. “Jenny can’t travel by herself and it’s not easy to travel for that long. It’s also not easy for me to get a Visa.”

Jenny, 68, noted that she currently lacks health insurance in India, adding another layer of uncertainty to their situation. The couple said they are hesitant to make the expensive trip to the United States without knowing whether a specific treatment option would be available.

“It’s going to take a lot of money to travel there,” Singh said. “Whatever she needs, I want to do it.”

The issue of where Jenny should live also became part of the conversation. When followers questioned why she wasn't staying with her daughters in the United States, Singh said they all have families and responsibilities of their own.

Jenny, meanwhile, admitted, “I don’t want to be a burden.”

One of her daughters quickly responded publicly, reassuring her mother that she would always have a place with her family.

“Mom, please know you are never a burden,” she wrote. “I would love to have you here and that’s what us children are for.”

The fundraising effort comes weeks after the fan-favorite 90 Day Fiancé couple publicly disclosed Jenny's diagnosis. Initially, many viewers believed she had suffered a stroke after noticing slurred speech during a holiday special appearance.

Eventually, doctors confirmed she had ALS, the same neurodegenerative disease that claimed the life of Grey's Anatomy star Eric Dane.

At the time, Jenny and Sumit said they were “open to any kind of help,” including “treatments, clinical trials, lifestyle changes, or anything that could help treat this disease or slow down its progression.”

Despite the health challenges, the couple has continued filming 90 Day: The Last Resort and recently even opened up about their sex life, with Jenny describing it as “good” and Sumit calling their relationship “traditional.”

Now, Singh says protecting his wife from negativity is just as important as finding resources.

“Negativity is very bad for Jenny,” he said. “Don’t say anything wrong and mean.”
