90 Day Fiancé star Jenny Slatten has revealed that she has been diagnosed with ALS after months of fan speculation about her health.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Slatten shared the news in a joint Instagram statement with her husband, Sumit Singh, confirming that rumors she had suffered a stroke were incorrect. Instead, doctors diagnosed her with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, the progressive neurodegenerative disease also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
“With a heavy heart we wanted to share news with all of you guys,” the couple wrote. “There was a rumor that I had a stroke, but it turned out to be ALS.”
The couple explained that they initially kept the diagnosis private while searching for treatment options and trying to process the emotional weight of the situation. Now, they say they are looking into everything from clinical trials to lifestyle changes that could potentially slow the disease’s progression.
ALS attacks nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, gradually affecting muscle control, speech, movement, swallowing, and eventually breathing. There is currently no cure.
Slatten later reassured followers on Instagram Stories that she remains optimistic despite the diagnosis. “I’m surrounded by an incredible support system and I’m ready to face this fight with strength and hope,” she wrote, while also asking fans not to treat her differently.
The reality star also said that her symptoms first appeared in late 2024 after she experienced severe choking while drinking water. Migraines and difficulty swallowing followed, but she and Singh initially believed it was a temporary infection.
The situation became more concerning as her speech slowed noticeably, especially during a filmed interview at a 90 Day Fiancé holiday event last December.
“That’s when we knew something was wrong,” Slatten said.
Singh later connected the symptoms to ALS after fans online began discussing the possibility. The concern hit especially close to home because Slatten’s father also died from the disease. After consulting multiple neurologists, the couple received confirmation of the diagnosis. “We cried and held each other,” Slatten recalled.
Her announcement comes just days after actor A. Russell Andrews publicly revealed his own ALS diagnosis during an interview on CNN. Andrews, known for roles in Better Call Saul, Straight Outta Compton, and a guest appearance on Grey's Anatomy, described the experience as “humbling” while discussing symptoms that included muscle weakness and loss of coordination.
Before Andrews’ announcement, much of Hollywood’s recent ALS conversation centered around Eric Dane, whose battle with the disease became highly public in the final year of his life.
The former Grey's Anatomy and Euphoria star died earlier this year at age 53. His official cause of death was later confirmed as respiratory failure caused by ALS.
Dane had used his platform to raise awareness about the disease after revealing his diagnosis in 2025, continuing to work and advocate publicly even as his condition worsened.
