Ray J is looking back on what he called a “crash out campaign,” and promises changes are coming soon.

In a new video shared to his Instagram on Sunday (Jan. 18), just a day after his 45th birthday, the R&B singer shared his gratitude while suggesting that a shift was coming.

"Thank y'all for the love today, man. God is good. Something's new, something's gonna change this year,” he said in the nearly two-minute clip. “Sincerely, thank you for all your prayers. Thank you for all the love, all the criticism. Last year was a crazy year, it was a 'crash out campaign.’ It was intense but God made it through and put us in the right position."

He continued, “I promise y'all, this is gonna be a really, really different wave that we on now. All jokes aside, I love y'all and I appreciate y'all, thank you."

He also credited his family during what he described as a difficult period, adding, "Thank you to my family too, my mom, my dad, my sister, for having my back in this critical time. My sister came through for me, man, I needed her."

In the caption for the post, Ray J elaborated on what he said he had endured over the past year, writing, "I walked through a season meant to break me. Jail, sickness, silence, and loss all at once. I take full accountability for my mistakes. God still spared my life when I didn't deserve it. That alone humbles me. My family covered me. Your prayers carried me.

“My health forced me to put the bottle down and face myself. To the ones who love me and the ones who counted me out, thank you. I love you - ON GOD - I miss my kids so much. I will be with you soon."

His sister Brandy publicly responded in the comments with a message of support, writing, "I love you so much bro and I’m here for you until the end -and after that [red heart emoji] God Bless you and your journey. We will get through everything together! #sis”

Although he didn’t cite any specific examples of his “crash out campaign,” Ray J made headlines in 2025 for a number of different reasons, including: a dispute with his estranged wife Princess Love that led to his arrest, a dispute with Sexyy Red over claims he slept with her, saying he doesn’t think he’s Brandy’s brother anymore in a bizarre rant, attempting to shower with Kai Cenat during his “Mafiathon 3” stream, offering IShowSpeed a similar “shower stream” experience.

More recently, Ray J claimed he had sex with 10,000 people, called out Beyoncé and Jay-Z for not taking a photo with Brandy backstage at the Boy Is Mine Tour, and claimed he wasn’t invited to Diddy’s “freak-off” parties because of his looks.

Earlier this month, Ray J was hospitalized in Las Vegas for pneumonia and heart pains, with TMZ reporting that he underwent X-rays and an echocardiogram. The incident recalled a serious pneumonia scare in 2021 that required oxygen and an inhaler before he made a full recovery.
