Ray J has claimed he was “afraid” when his ex and her family came to his home to take his kids.
The singer made the confession to TMZ. The incident in question happened on Thanksgiving, when Ray J hopped on a livestream and alleged that Princess Love, her cousin, and her cousin’s husband, were trying to take away his kids and that he was being threatened. He also accused Love of being “drunk.”
During the stream, Ray J grabbed his gun—briefly visible on camera—and then confronted Love and her family. As Ray J protested them taking his kids, Melody Love and Epik Ray, whom he shares with Love, she repeatedly told him, “You pointed a gun at us!”
Ray J later told TMZ he “would never point a gun at anybody, including Princess Love.” He also admitted to holding the gun, but said “he never planned to shoot anyone.” He said he “didn't like” Love’s family members “being in his private space near his child,” and called them “aggressive and belligerent.”
After accusing Ray J of pointing a gun at them during the stream, Love called him a “woman abuser” and told him to “grow the fuck up.” Moments later, Ray J threatened to shoot Love and her family members.
“I’ll kill you,” he yelled. “Get the fuck out of here, you in my house,” he added as he appeared to hide the camera. “I’ll shoot the fuck out of you.” He claimed to TMZ that Love’s cousin’s husband then “tackled him.”
According to Ray J, the incident resulted in 20 cops arriving at his home with guns drawn, which “further traumatized his two children.” He was arrested in the end and booked on a charge of making a criminal threat, not specifically for pointing a gun at anyone, and was later released on a $50,000 bail.
Ray J also told TMZ, “he will always love Princess Love,” despite what happened last week. She later spoke out on the incident, saying that Ray J needs to “take accountability” and go to rehab.
