Desmond Scott's former flame says their whirlwind fling included a next-day shopping spree where she spent about $10,000 on his dime.
In her sit-down with TMZ's Charlie Neff, Marissa Springer opened up about her brief, highly-publicized fling with Desmond, which took place following the news that the influencer and his wife Kristy Sarah had called it quits earlier this year. She told the outlet they met the same night they were filmed making out, and despite the sudden publicity, they continued seeing each other.
When TMZ asked her to clarify the nature of their relationship: whether they were exclusive or just hooking up, she suggested it was loosely defined but transactional in feel.
“I would say we definitely did vibe,” she explained, though she added that being in the public eye made things harder and that she felt she handled much of the fallout alone. “I really had to like bring myself out the mud... I feel like he didn't really defend me publicly.”
One of the biggest revelations involved how quickly Scott began spending money on her. Springer said the day after they met, he gave her his credit card and encouraged her to shop with what she characterized as “hush money” after realizing he was dealing with a very public breakup.
“Even though he couldn't come with me publicly, he still gave me his card to go on an unlimited shopping spree for me and even treated my friends,” she said. “Not nothing that I asked for, but [he] was really generous with it.”
TMZ asked Springer how much she spent and what she bought, and she said she picked up designer items like YSL and Gucci bags and clothes, estimating around $10,000 of a roughly $25,000 limit, noting that she did not hit the maximum.
Springer also suggested there were restrictions around being seen together, claiming she couldn't go out publicly with him and questioning why that changed now that he's reportedly seeing Diddy’s ex-girlfriend, Dana Tran.
“It surprised me because I saw that name pop up on his phone, but he never answered the calls when I was with him," Springer said.
Springer claims that the attention surrounding their fling brought significant backlash her way, including online hate and threats.
“I'm still getting hate to this day, which is wild. I never knew people were that involved in the internet or commenting, and stuff like that,” she explained. “I was getting death threats for a while. There was lots of like comments in the very beginning about like me being transgender, which I guess was because of the gay allegations against him, which I guess makes sense. People will do anything to hate. I definitely cleared that up and I didn't really hear much about that after the fact.
“People will hate on anything and I learned that the internet is very opinionated and makes up their own stories, which is fine. I mean, I guess that's in any scandal.”
Despite losing some brand deals early on, she ultimately sees the experience as beneficial, saying, "Definitely helped... I've learned a lot and gained a lot."
Now that the situation has cooled, she says their last interaction was cordial and that there were never serious intentions between them. Still, she hinted that the experience left lingering questions about how she was treated publicly versus privately.
Springer ended her TMZ interview with a pointed message for Scott in light of his alleged relationship with Tran, saying, “Diddy's out soon, so be careful."
As for Desmond Scott's side, sources close to him pushed back on Springer's version of events, telling TMZ he only bought her a single purse worth $3,788.75 and denying there was any kind of hush arrangement, insisting the two were already finished at that point. The same sources also disputed any overlap with Dana Tran, saying he did not know her at all while he was seeing Springer.
Kristy Sarah, 30, filed for divorce from Desmond in December, citing alleged infidelity and that there was no reasonable chance for reconciliation, according to Texas court documents reviewed by TMZ.
The Scotts, who built their online brand around joint family content, renovations, and pranks, first met as teenagers, tied the knot in 2014, and share two sons named Vance and Westin.
After news of their split made headlines, Desmond posted an apology to his Instagram Story. Although he did not specifically mention any infidelity in the post, Desmond admitted he and Kristy “faced challenges” in their relationship in which he “made sincere efforts to work through them.”
