No, Bad Bunny Wasn't Wearing a Bulletproof Vest at Grammys

People online speculated he was wearing a vest due to threats to his life.

There’s no proof that Bad Bunny was wearing a bulletproof vest at the 2026 Grammy Awards, despite speculation from social media users.

Vanity Fair debunked the theory that Benito had on a bulletproof vest, pointing to a Vogue video featuring him getting ready ahead of the event.

In the clip, the Puerto Rican rapper puts on a custom Schiaparelli outfit that looks a bit large but doesn’t appear to have the space to fit an entire Kevlar vest inside of it.

The belief that Benito wore a vest stemmed from threats that he’s received since being announced as the performer at Super Bowl LX. He’s no stranger to threats, either; last September, reports surfaced that he faced a credible death threat at his concert in Puerto Rico.

But Benito didn’t let any controversies impact his history-making night: He won Album of the Year at the 2026 Grammy Awards, making Debí Tirar Mas Fotos the first Spanish-speaking album to take home the trophy.

In his acceptance speech delivered in Spanish, Benito spoke out against ICE and dedicated his award to those who “leave their home, land, their country, to follow their dreams.”

Bad Bunny spoke briefly this week about his upcoming halftime show in an interview with Apple Music Radio, declining to give “any spoilers” but promising that it would be “enjoyable for everyone.”

“I just want people to have fun,” he said. “There’s gonna be a huge party. It’s gonna be what people always can expect from me. … Of course, a lot of my culture. But really, I don’t wanna give any spoilers. It’s gonna be fun.”
