Drake couldn’t help himself after Shai Gilgeous-Alexander put up another undeniably strong performance with the Oklahoma City Thunder, ultimately coming out on top against the Utah Jazz.
In a pair of Instagram Stories updates, the Iceman-teasing 2026 Grammys nominee appeared to reference recent Canada-mocking comments from former NBA player Brandon Jennings. Gilgeous-Alexander, notably, is from Toronto, Drake’s hometown.
“Boom what?” was the caption the 6 God went with when sharing some throwback photos of Jennings, including one featuring the Bucks and Knicks alum rocking an OVO chain.
Jennings, as seen below, recently shared a disparaging assessment of “Canada or Toronto players” at large.
“It’s like the Kendrick and Drake beef,” he said on Gil’s Arena. “Once you boom one of them, they gon’ lay down. That’s just me though. That’s just me looking at what I think is gon’ happen in the future.”
Jennings, for what it’s worth, has seemingly taken Drake’s well-time trolling in stride. In an Instagram Stories update of his own, he echoed the “Boom what?” remark while also tucking in a tease of Drake’s upcoming Iceman album.
Speaking with Nick Gallo after the Thunder’s win on Wednesday (Jan. 7), Gilgeous-Alexander, currently staring down a potential league record, said he and his teammates were focused on doing “whatever it took” to secure a victory.
“It’s not always gonna be pretty,” he said after fending off the Jazz. “We gotta play a lot better if we wanna get to where we wanna get to. Nonetheless, we won the game.”
As for Drake’s Iceman, it remains unclear when, exactly, we can expect the For All the Dogs follow-up. The album was widely expected to be eyeing a late 2025 release, though that ultimately failed to materialize.
