Drake Says He's 'One of the Most Profound Writers of Our Time'

Drake made the remark during his latest stream with BenDaDonnn.

Drake says he’s among the “most profound writers” of his time.

The remark, like several we’ve reported on this week, came during a stream with BenDaDonnn during which efforts to get a firm Iceman release date from the OVO Sound co-founder were gently rebuffed. During this particular stream, Drake and Ben were listening to Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter II classic “Money on My Mind,” with both offering praise for Weezy as the song played.

“I wouldn’t be shit without Wayne,” Drake said at one point, prompting Ben to joke that he and Weezy are both key influences on his writing.

“I don’t even know if you could write one bar for me without people being like, ‘Yo, that’s not Drake,” the 6 God responded.

Ben playfully pushed back, followed by Drake reiterating his argument.

“Brother, you can’t pronounce English words,” Drake added. “How can you write for me? I’m really, I’m one of the most profound writers of our time.”

After laughing about their exchange, Drake did ultimately give credit to Ben for some level of inspiration on an unspecified album, presumably Iceman.

“You did inspire me, though, on the album,” he said. “You gave me a pep talk one night. We ain’t talking about that though.”

Though its release date remains a mystery, it’s almost certain that Iceman, Drake’s ninth solo album, will arrive soon. During a prior stream with BenDaDonnn, the 2026 Grammys nominee did indeed decline to get specific when pressed for an update, except to confirm that he’s “focused” and “cheffing.”
