Police allege Lil Tjay started a fight that led to his associate shooting Offset.
According to the probable cause affidavit reviewed by TMZ, cops claim that at around 7:22 PM ET on Monday (April 6), Tjay “directed members of his party to start a fight with another group of males” at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Police say that during the altercation one of Tjay's associates pulled a gun and fired, injuring Offset.
The documents reportedly state that officers reviewed security footage of Lil Tjay hopping out of his vehicle, pointing out Offset, and leading his group over to the rapper, where the fight broke out, and that Lil Tjay filmed the incident on his phone.
The fight between Tjay and Offset's friends allegedly continued until police arrived. Complex has reached out for comment in regards to the claims.
Lil Tjay was arrested and booked into the Broward County Jail on a charge of misdemeanor disorderly conduct-affray and was released Tuesday (April 7). He denied shooting the former Migos rapper, called him a rat, and said he would “smack the shit” out of him.
Offset is still recovering in a local hospital but was well enough to be wheeled outside for a cigarette.
Offset’s shooting inspired a number of responses, including from his former Migos bandmate Quavo, who posted a praying hands emoji to his Instagram Story.
WWE legend Ric Flair shared a message of support to his social media, reading, “Prayers For Offset! Stay Strong! Thank You So Much For All You Have Done For My Career! 🙏🏻.”
Former Hot 97 host Ebro shared that he reached out to Offset after the incident, and mentioned the rapper owes him $5,000 from a Super Bowl bet.
