Ebro Darden is reacting to news of Offset being shot, and doing it in a way only he can.
During a recent episode of The Ebro Laura Rosenberg Show, the former Hot 97 host shared that he had reached out to Offset following reports of the incident, offering reassurance about the rapper’s condition while also bringing up an old bet between them.
“He owes me $5,000,” Ebro said. “Offset is fine—I tried to call him last night.”
Ebro explained that the two had previously wagered on Super Bowl LIX while in New Orleans last year, with the bet still unsettled.
“We bet $5,000. I was prepared to pay him $5,000,” he said. “I’ve talked to him a thousand times since then and never jammed him about $5,000… I’m not going to chase you around. Five grand is not a big deal to me.”
While the comment sparked more insight from co-hosts Peter Rosenberg and Laura Stylez, Ebro made it clear the situation wasn’t serious, emphasizing that his relationship with Offset remains solid.
“It wasn’t a loan, we made a bet… me and Offset are in a good enough situation where I don’t need to stress,” he added.
The remarks come as questions continue to swirl around the shooting, which took place near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Offset was transported to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
Ebro also addressed speculation tying the incident to gambling or other rumors circulating online, pushing back on the idea that money disputes were behind the situation.
“That’s why I said, why are we jumping all the way to gambling?” he said. “We don’t know if they’re going at each other… we don’t know anything.”
The conversation also touched on Lil Tjay, who had been rumored online to be connected to the incident. However, his legal team has denied any involvement, stating he was not part of the shooting and has not been charged in connection with it.
