UPDATED 4/7, 9:00 a.m. ET: Lil Tjay was arrested for alleged misdemeanor disorderly conduct in Florida on Monday (April 6), online jail records show.
Broward County records show that Tjay, born Tione Jayden Merritt, was arrested by Seminole police and booked into the main jail on Monday. Listed allegations include disorderly conduct and a capias-traffic charge in connection with driving without a valid license.
A report from TMZ states that Seminole police have said that Tjay was “involved in a fight” with unknown parties before Offset was shot at a local Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Tjay’s lawyer, meanwhile, has issued a statement saying their client had been made the subject of “false rumors” of being involved in the shooting.
“Lil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting,” Dawn M. Florio, an attorney for Tjay, said Monday night. “Any reporting to the contrary is false.”

Lil Tjay was not involved in the shooting that left Offset injured near a Florida casino.
According to Tjay’s lawyer, Dawn Florio, the 24-year-old rapper was in no way involved in the shooting incident that resulted in the former Migos member being hospitalized on Monday. Florio also said her client was not charged with anything despite online rumors.
“We are issuing this release in regards to false rumors that Lil Tjay was involved in a shooting which occurred at the Valet Area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood which resulting in non-life threatening injuries to Offset, formerly a member of Migos,” she wrote in a message shared to Instagram on Tuesday.
It continues: “Lil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting. Any reporting to the contrary is false. We encourage people to consult trusted news sources, and to verify the accuracy of any reporting, before reflexively sharing or repeating baseless rumors.”
A video showing the alleged aftermath of a shooting supposedly involving Tjay surfaced online immediately following reports that Offset was shot on Monday (April 6) near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
On Monday, TMZ reported that Offset (real name Kiari Kendrell Cephus) was taken to the hospital after being shot near a casino. The outlet also said the former Migos rapper was seen smiling and taking photos with fans before the shooting. He is reportedly in stable condition.
The Seminole Police Department said, according to reports, that an injured individual was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
