Ruby Rose appears to have previously written about her encounter with Katy Perry in a resurfaced essay.
In the days since the former Orange Is the New Black star claimed that Perry “rubbed her disgusting vagina” on her face at a Melbourne nightclub at the time, a News.com.au essay that Rose wrote has resurfaced. At the time, the actress recalled being 30 days sober, but while at a party with the “I Kissed a Girl” vocalist, she was unable to limit herself to one alcoholic drink.
Rose wrote that she lost her “dignity” in the moment, which occurred at Spice Market Club.
“I spectacularly lost dignity (and keys) one night not too long ago. Remember when Katy Perry and I crashed the year 12 formal? I don’t. I had been off the grog for 30 days - my first attempt at sobriety - and I was out partying with Katy,” she wrote.
“What I do remember thinking was: ‘I’ll have a drink tonight, I deserve one. I mean, what’s the worst that could happen?’” Rose continued. “Well, not stopping at one drink, or ten, and then vomiting on Katy’s foot was the answer.”
The entertainer added, "Before you jump to conclusions, nothing horrific happened, nor have I ever been hit with a DUI - but I just had enough."
The actress recently wrote about Perry in the Instagram comments of a Complex Music post about Perry reacting to Justin Bieber’s first weekend Coachella headlining set.
“Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne,” she wrote. “Who gives a shit what she thinks.”
In a response, Rose wrote that it has taken her two decades to discuss the alleged sexual assault. “Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes. Thank you for seeing me,” she wrote.
An investigation has been opened into the incident, which a representative for Perry has denied, calling Rose’s claims “dangerous.”
“Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named,” the rep’s statement continued.
