After she accused Katy Perry of assaulting her when she was in her 20s, actress Ruby Rose, now 40, has said that she reported the alleged incident to authorities.
A fellow user on Threads, where Rose made the allegations against the popstar, accused her of spreading “BS” because she hadn’t brought charges, and highlighted that she publicly criticized Perry in 2017. Rose explained that she wasn’t interested in filing a report over the allegations, and said that she was also sexually assaulted by multiple men and didn’t report those incidents either.
“She is more than welcome to sue me (she won’t, because it happened, I have photos and it was literally in public and witnessed by multiple people),” wrote Rose. “Plus there is so much more that happened in the years leading up to her silly song she won’t want me discussing. The psychological manipulation was strong with that one.”
Someone questioned why she publicly accused Perry if she wasn’t willing to file a report. She later responded to that post and wrote, “Just left the police station.”
In follow-up posts, she simply wrote, “I did it.” She then put out a call for “any good witches, or spirit folk” to “cast a few protective spells” for her.
“I said names inside the station that hold much more power than me and frankly, freak me out,” she continued. “I feel very relieved so far but have no expectations. I do however want to assure people that I am in no way suicidal, if you know what I mean. Nor do I take drugs, or have any health conditions.”
She also said that once she feels strong enough to do so, she will write about her experience reporting the incident.
“I will just say that I was surprised to find the reporting process to be ok, it was when the officer would leave the room that my body would collapse into a ball,” she wrote. “It was like having narcolepsy. I did not want to burden anyone by taking them with me but I highly recommend others do.”
As reported by Variety, Perry’s representative have slammed the claims as “categorically false.”
“The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies,” said the representative. “Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”
In response to a post from the Complex Music account on Threads, which was about Perry sharing her reaction to Justin Bieber’s headlining Coachella set, Rose shared the allegation in question against Perry, with whom she was associated as late as 2012.
“Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne,” wrote Rose, who attended the Katy Perry: Part of Me premiere in Australia in 2012. “Who gives a shit what she thinks.”
She later revealed that she was in her “early 20s” at the time, and that it took “almost 2 decades” for her to build up the strength to publicly share the allegations.
“She saw me ‘resting’ on my best friends lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her,” she wrote in one of her posts.
Rose initially said she wasn’t interested in filing a report, but the support she received appears to have changed her mind on the matter.
Rose, who came out as a lesbian when she was a teenager, previously alleged that she was subjected to abusive and dangerous working conditions during her time working on the Batwoman series. She said that she decided to leave the production as a result of the working environment, but her former co-star Camrus Johnson later said she was fired. Warner Bros. Television, the production company, also said she was fired following “multiple complaints about her workplace behavior.”
