Katy Perry has denied Ruby Rose’s claims that she sexually assaulted the Orange Is the New Black actor.
“The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies,” a rep for the 13-time Grammy nominee told Variety in a statement on Monday (April 13). “Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”
Rose previously took to Threads to accuse Perry of assaulting her at an Austraialian nightclub when she was in her early twenties.
“Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne,” Rose wrote under a post from Complex Music’s Threads account. “Who gives a shit what she thinks.”
Rose then elaborated on the alleged incident, claiming that Perry “pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her.”
Rose, who also starred in The CW’s Batwoman series, later claimed that she spoke with police after going public with the allegation.
“I said names inside the station that hold much more power than me and frankly, freak me out,” Rose wrote, again on Threads. “I feel very relieved so far but have no expectations. I do however want to assure people that I am in no way suicidal, if you know what I mean. Nor do I take drugs, or have any health conditions.”
