Britney Spears was arrested for a DUI back in March, and now new details have come to light about the incident.
A police report first obtained by Us Weekly states that on March 4, after 9 p.m. local PT, officers pulled the pop star over near her Ventura County, California home after receiving a report of a driver who was "traveling at high speeds and swerving."
"[The subject] continued to drive in the #2 lane and did not immediately react to my emergency lights. I activated the [police car's] siren to get the driver’s attention," an officer wrote in the report.
Once Spears pulled over, the officer detected the smell of alcohol coming from inside the car. "I could probably drink four bottles of wine and take care of you. I'm an angel," she's alleged to have told the cop. The report states that she also told officers that she had consumed a mimosa about seven hours earlier, and rated herself a "zero" on a sobriety scale of zero to 10.
The "I'm a Slave 4 U" hitmaker reportedly disclosed to officers that she had taken three prescription medications that day: 200mg of Lamictal, 40mg of Prozac, and 2.5mg of Adderall, and that her last meal had been ice cream at 3 p.m. The officers reported that they found a bottle of Adderall in her purse that wasn’t prescribed to her, and that an empty wine glass was sitting in the front seat cup holder.
"I instructed Spears to exit the [car], but she initially refused," the officer wrote. "Spears related she had been pranked and harassed in the past and did not want to exit." The officer noted that the 44-year-old's eyes were "red," "watery," and dilated.
The pop star later passed two chemical breath tests at a local precinct, blowing a .05 and .06, below California’s legal limit of .08.
After being charged, she accepted a plea agreement tied to reckless driving involving alcohol and/or drugs. Under the deal, Spears avoided jail time and instead received probation along with other standard conditions typically associated with "wet reckless" pleas, including fines and DUI education requirements.
Earlier this month, Britney Spears opened up for the first time following her arrest and after her reported rehab stint.
"I’m so damn thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey," she wrote online, describing her hardships as "all a blessing in disguise."
"I still have to learn how to be kind to myself and the way I speak to myself," she added. "It’s a never-ending journey."
