Britney Spears is opening up publicly for the first time following a difficult stretch that included a DUI-related arrest, a guilty plea, and a reported stay in rehab.

The pop star returned to Instagram over the weekend with a reflective post discussing what she described as a recent “spiritual journey” after months of relative silence online.

Spears shared a photo holding a small albino Burmese python while explaining the symbolic meaning snakes hold for her.

“Snakes are symbolic of good health, higher consciousness, and pure luck,” she wrote.

The singer went on to express gratitude for the people who supported her during recent challenges.

“I’m so damn thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey,” Spears wrote, later describing the hardships she’s faced recently as “all a blessing in disguise.”

She also acknowledged continuing to work on self-compassion and personal growth.

“I still have to learn how to be kind to myself and the way I speak to myself,” Spears added. “It’s a never-ending journey.”

The post marks Spears’ first major public comments since legal troubles earlier this year. In March, she was arrested in Ventura County, California, on suspicion of driving under the influence after being stopped by California Highway Patrol officers.

She was later charged in April before eventually accepting a plea agreement tied to reckless driving involving alcohol and/or drugs. Under the deal, Spears avoided jail time and instead received probation along with other standard conditions typically associated with “wet reckless” pleas, including fines and DUI education requirements.

Reports also surfaced that Spears later entered a rehabilitation facility before checking out earlier this month.

At the end of her post, Spears described moments where she pauses to reflect on everything she’s experienced.

“Sometimes I just stop, look up, and say, ‘Wow, God, I think that was you,’” she wrote.
