Will 'GTA 6' Be the Most Expensive Game Launch Ever?

Leaked edition prices, billion-dollar development estimates and a confirmed November 2026 launch date have fans asking how much 'GTA 6' will really cost on day one.

New rumors surrounding GTA 6 are raising eyebrows over what could become the priciest launch in Rockstar Games’ history. With preorders officially set to begin June 25, unconfirmed retailer listings and fresh trailer chatter have reignited debate about how much players may ultimately have to pay.

According to industry outlet 80LV, a European retailer briefly listed four editions of GTA 6. The reported prices were €89.99 for the Standard Edition, €109.99 for the Deluxe Edition, €129.99 for the Premium Edition, and €199.99 for the Collector’s Edition. Based on current exchange rates, those amounts translate to roughly $105, $128, $151, and $233, respectively, in U.S. currency. If those figures are accurate, GTA 6 would rank among the most expensive major game releases to date.

Some fans believe a third trailer could accompany the reported June 25 preorder date. Speculation intensified after Rockstar released new promotional art featuring protagonists Jason and Lucia, while YouTube’s official account reportedly commented beneath the second trailer, “Consider us busy June 25th.”

Questions surrounding GTA 6 price have been building for months. Earlier this year, Bank of America analyst Omar Dessouky argued that Take-Two Interactive should consider charging $80 for the standard edition, saying such a move could help raise prices across the gaming industry.

Meanwhile, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has repeatedly avoided committing to a number. During one discussion about in-game advertising, however, he referenced players paying “70 or 80 bucks” for premium titles.

Take-Two has remained consistent on one point: GTA 6 is still scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026.

The publisher recently reaffirmed the date in its earnings report, despite previous delays that pushed the game back from fall 2025 to May 2026. Zelnick also revealed that the title was roughly 18 months behind its original internal target.

The project’s enormous scope has contributed to the anticipation. Reports have placed development costs at more than $1 billion, making GTA 6 potentially the most expensive game ever made. Take-Two has framed those investments as part of its effort to deliver what Zelnick has described as “perfection.”

For now, neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has confirmed preorder timing, pricing, or the arrival of Trailer 3.
