Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino has responded to a concerning video that appeared to show his Jersey Shore co-star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro drifting off mid-interview while promoting Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.
“I want to be clear that I am not responsible for the actions of any other cast member,” wrote Sorrentino on his Instagram Stories. “At the same time, my heart is heavy seeing what Ron, a grown adult, chose to present during press. This situation is still developing, and while I do not know the full extent of what he may be going through, I do know it is separate from my path. I will help where I can, including through my organization, The Archangel Centers.”
Sorrentino added that he has since reached out to his co-star to check in and offer support, but he has yet to hear back. “If he is willing, I will be there for him,” he continued. “My heart is with anyone who is struggling. I have worked so hard to protect my sobriety for nearly 11 years, and I honor that every day while continuing to show up with compassion for others.”
In an interview for SiriusXM last month, Ortiz-Magro appeared to struggle staying awake and slouched in his chair while his co-stars spoke. He was joined in the interview by Angelina Pivarnick, Sammi ‘Sweetheart’ Giancola, Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi, Deena Nicole Cortese, Vinny Gaudagnino, and Sorrentino, who was set right next to him. In 2021, Ortiz-Magro stepped away from the Jersey Shore reboot after he was arrested for alleged domestic violence.
Ortiz-Magro later returned to the show after he announced one year of sobriety. Sorrentino, in a 2023 interview per Page Six, said that Ortiz-Magro focused on his mental health amid his absence, and he “tried to take a lead” in helping his friend’s recovery journey. In March, police were called to his property with his ex-girlfriend, Kirsten, over a dispute over her plans to move out.
