The Game has shared that he believes rap is in a "sad" place without Drake releasing new music.

During a new interview with Complex, in which he ranks his top rappers, the Compton rapper (who called today’s hip-hop "trash" last year) explained why he thinks Drizzy is desperately needed in today's hip-hop landscape.

"You walk in the clubs, everybody on their phone, nobody looks like they’re having a good time anymore," Game began. "If you walked in the club today, what song would make you happy about being there right now? Yeat gonna come on and turn y’all up? He gonna turn y’all section up? And I’m not shitting on Yeat. I’m saying, this is why Drake needs to go up."

"This shit is sad without Drake in the club," he continued. "It’s sad, bro. But we got Drake out here feeling like we didn’t appreciate him, so now he tucked away working on Iceman, chillin' like, 'They don’t appreciate me.' He should never feel that way."

Luckily for Game, and the rest of the rap scene, Drake is set to release his long-awaited album Iceman on May 15. The Toronto-born crooner hid the release date for his ninth solo studio album inside of a massive ice sculpture that fans, streamers, and eventually fire fighters chipped through to discover.

According to DJ Akademiks, the album should have been out sooner, but, allegedly at his suggestion, Drizzy made the choice to hold on to it for a little while longer.

"I TOLD DRAKE DELAY ICEMAN A LIL MORE CUZ HIS HATERS BECOMING DELUSIONAL!" AK wrote on X. "DRAKE DERANGEMENT SYNDROME!! THEY MAD THEY GOT NOTHING TO HATE ON.. SO THESE F*CK N***AS JUST MAKING UP FALLACIES. WITH THAT SAID. ICE MAN… SO SOON. STAY ALERT!"

Drake’s last solo studio album, For All the Dogs, arrived in October of 2023. He went on to collaborate with Partynextdoor for the $ome $exy $ongs 4 U in February of 2025.
