If you’re a Drake fan wondering where his frequently teased upcoming album Iceman is, look to none other than Akademiks — at least, according to him.
Akademiks took to X to mock music critic Anthony Fantano for recently announcing that Iceman would be arriving “in the next 36 hours,” per info from his “exclusive source.” When that didn’t happen, Akademiks dedicated a few tweets to Fantano in which he trolled the critic for getting the release date wrong, and then also offered some context.
“Ice Man this.. Ice Man that…. Every body just stfu and watch this movie play out,” wrote AK. “Enjoy the process as fans like me. Even if u a hater by now u done turned into a fan with speculating.”
“Fantano u a bitch ass n***a and n***as fed u wrong info like b4 when yall said [Drake] had a 11 year old daughter,” he continued. “Sent it out for suckas like u to bite. ICEMAN.. SO SOON…don’t blink.”
Ak’s next post delved into why Iceman supposedly didn’t come out — with the media personality saying he’d suggested the delay, while using Trumpian language aimed at Drake’s enemies.
“I TOLD DRAKE DELAY ICEMAN A LIL MORE CUZ HIS HATERS BECOMING DELUSIONAL!” AK wrote. “DRAKE DERANGEMENT SYNDROME!! THEY MAD THEY GOT NOTHING TO HATE ON.. SO THESE F*CK N***AS JUST MAKING UP FALLACIES. WITH THAT SAID. ICE MAN… SO SOON. STAY ALERT!”
The hype for Iceman is at an all-time high following Drake sharing a picture of iced-over courtside seats at the Toronto Raptors’ Scotiabank Arena. Though he didn’t directly tie the seats to Iceman, fans were quick to connect them to the LP that was previously expected to drop last year.
The seats followed him teasing the album back in March during his appearance at the 2026 Junos.
“To the Junos, because you are honoring one of my dearest friends tonight, I will spare you,” Drake joked in a video message while inducting Nelly Furtado into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
“Even though I know you're still thinking about those six awards that you gave to Shad in 2011 when you snubbed Take Care as I hosted the 40th anniversary of your award show. But listen, that's neither here nor there,” Drizzy continued. “Tonight, we'll let it go. This is about Nelly. … Enjoy your Hall of Fame status. It's long overdue. Kill the performance. We love you, dawg. Iceman coming soon.”
