When it comes to sheer charts dominance, there is, indisputably, simply no one doing it like Drake right now.
Fresh off the triple-dose release strategy behind his long-awaited new album (and triad centerpiece) Iceman, which netted him the top three spots on the Billboard 200, Drake has now been confirmed to have bagged an additional feat on the chart.
The 39-year-old OVO Sound co-founder has a total of 12 projects on the latest Billboard 200 albums chart, including Iceman and its two counterparts, Habibti and Maid of Honour. Joining them are Take Care (at No. 25), Views (at No. 40), Scorpion (at No. 65), For All the Dogs (at No. 96), and more.
Per Billboard, this makes Drake “the first living solo artist” to have ever charted this many albums at once, with The Beatles and Prince both cited as past examples.
The ambitious Iceman-Habibti-Maid of Honour rollout isn’t just leading to charts history here in the States. As previously reported, the debut of all three projects in the top 10 of the UK’s Official Albums Chart also marks an industry first, with Prince again cited as the closest point of comparison.
