Happy World Goth Day to all who celebrate, including, if past comments are to be taken at face value, Drake.

As you may recall being gleefully reported in September of last year, the Iceman artist—who’s poised to be holding down the top three spots on the Billboard 200 albums chart in the next update—made his affinity for “goth baddies” clear during a nearly 90-minute interview with Bobbi Althoff.

Below, we mark the holiday by taking a closer look.

World Goth Day is observed on May 22

Though it’s not entirely clear who, exactly, first established it, World Goth Day boasts its own official site. On it, the special day is billed as being one “where the goth scene gets to celebrate its own being,” while also serving as “an opportunity to make its presence known to the rest of the world.” The site’s FAQ section also dates the day’s origins back to 2009, though it was originally a UK-focused celebration before later, apparently, going worldwide.

On Friday (May 22), the 2026 edition of World Goth Day spurred a slew of social media posts commemorating the occasion.

Drake believes it’s his destiny to end up with a “goth baddie” with “absolute O cups”

On the premiere of Not This Again last year, Drake was asked by Bobbi to specify when he planned on getting married. Naturally, this led to some playful deflection from Drizzy, though he ultimately found his way to describing his ideal partner.

“It’s like some, like, tweaked-out goth, kind of, tatted all over,” Drake said, affirming this was his type, and that he’d had such experiences in the past.

“I really feel like my destiny is to end up with, like, a goth baddie with just absolute O cups, and that’s just honest,” he added when Bobbi expressed skepticism about his answer.

Later, he expanded this description somewhat, saying that his ideal partner should also be “funny,” and as an alternative to goth, could be “kind of emo” instead.

To that end, “Princess,” the closing track off Drake’s Maid of Honour, one of three new albums he shared last Friday (May 15), would arguably feel fairly close to home on a hypothetical World Goth Day playlist.
