Cam’ron says agreeing to take part in a Verzuz battle between Dipset and The Lox back in 2021 was the “wrong decision.”
During an episode of the It Is What It Is podcast this week, Cam, who also recently gave his take on the ComplexCon relaunch edition of Verzuz with Cash Money and No Limit, attributed the lapse in judgment to his desire to “be a team player.” Looking back, however, it’s clear he regrets this instinct and has since abandoned it.
“I can name a lot of decisions that wasn’t good because I was trying to be a team player. … I should have never did the Verzuz,” Cam said. “I told n***as, ‘Don’t do the Verzuz.’ I told n***as, ‘I don’t wanna do the Verzuz.’ But I’m a team player and it’s the wrong decision that I made. No more of that, no more of that, no more of that.”
Mase then chimed in to propose how the evening in question might have gone differently, with Cam responding by reiterating that this was an example of a “wrong decision” he made.
In November, Cam praised the Cash Money and No Limit Verzuz battle at ComplexCon in Las Vegas as “real good,” but argued that many in attendance may have missed the larger importance of the moment.
“A lot of people didn't realize what was actually happening,” he said at the time. “People didn't even really know the magnitude of what was going on with that Verzuz.”
