Who can go up against Jay-Z in a Verzuz battle?
Verzuz made its explosive return at ComplexCon 2025 as Cash Money and No Limit went head-to-head in an epic display of legacy, guts, and glory.
It’s only natural that fans of the series would imagine which two artists they would like to see have a showdown.
MyMixtapez, a hip-hop update account, recently resurfaced a 2021-era comment from Jay-Z in which he claimed "no one" can stand a chance against him in a theoretical Verzuz battle.
“No one can stand on that stage with me. It’s not a chance in hell that anyone can stand on that stage with me,” Hov said at the time. “You got to stand in front of the ‘Grammy Family Freestyle’ live? No one has ever even seen me perform that, you got to stand in front of that? That ain’t never going to happen.”
Now, fans of the series are weighing in on who they believe is a worthy opponent against Jay-Z, including Rick Ross, Drake, and Kanye West.
Memphis Bleek threw his own hat into the ring with a tweet on Wednesday, writing, “I can tho he don’t want no smoke wit Blizz.”
Bleek also pointed to a 2013-era interview Jay-Z gave to The Breakfast Club where he called him "an amazing soul" and "an incredible person."
