Bad Bunny, fresh off bagging multiple 2026 Grammy awards including Album of the Year, paid tribute to his uncle during his Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show performance on Sunday (Feb. 8.) During the headlining performance, the six-time Grammy winner donned a No. 64 jersey, marking an homage to his late uncle.

“The number 64 marks the birth year of his late uncle, Cutito, from whom he learned much of what he knows about the NFL and who first shared with him a love for the San Francisco 49ers,” reps for Bad Bunny told Complex. “Worn during his Super Bowl halftime performance, ‘64’ was a quiet, deeply personal tribute, one meant to carry his uncle’s presence with him on the biggest stage.”

The Puerto Rican superstar’s much-anticipated set on Sunday placed him in rare company, joining past Super Bowl Halftime Show headliners like Rihanna and Kendrick Lamar. Other previous performers who have graced what is arguably the world’s biggest stage include Michael Jackson, Prince, Bruce Springsteen, and more.

No doubt aware of the gravity of the moment, Bad Bunny made sure to tuck in a timely message during one of his Grammys acceptance speeches earlier this month, notably calling for “ICE out” while detailing the inherent ludicrousness of those who argue otherwise.

“Before I say thanks to God, I’m gonna say, ICE out,” he said when accepting the Best Música Urbana Album trophy. “We’re not savages, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens. We are humans, and we are Americans.”

Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin both made surprise appearances during Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl set on Sunday. As fans know, the Gaga inclusion marks an especially touching full-circle moment for Bad Bunny, a well-documented fan of the decorated Mayhem artist.
