Shyne is standing firm in his claims about a past relationship with Brandy, even after the singer publicly denied that the two were ever romantically involved.

The controversy stems from a recent appearance on It Is What It Is, where Shyne and Mase both suggested they had been involved with Brandy around the same time in the late 1990s. The conversation quickly went viral, sparking reactions across social media, including from Brandy's brother, Ray J.

Brandy later addressed the claims directly in a public statement, describing their past as strictly platonic and pushing back on what she called a misrepresentation of her life. She also tied the moment to her upcoming memoir, saying it was an opportunity to clarify long-standing narratives.

But Shyne isn't backing down. During an interview with TMZ, Shyne claimed he didn't know why Brandy downplayed the relationship.

"I don't know what is wrong with her," he said in a follow-up interview. "I spoke from a place of admiration and a place of reminiscing on my experience with her, which I didn't care to highlight the negatives, it was only positive."

He added, claiming Brandy was lying about the nature of their relationship, "She lied to Oprah about being married and had to go on Oprah and apologize because she said she did that to protect her image… I can't get in her mind. I'm just saying that she has lied to the public before to protect her image, and maybe the fact that she was seeing both Mase and I at the same time, she feels it's not good for her image."

According to Shyne, his account of their relationship is consistent not only with his perspective but also with that of those present during that era. He pointed out that he and Ma$e shared similar recollections during the podcast, suggesting that if his version were inaccurate, it would have been challenged on the spot.

"Mase has different opinions. He's very hard-lined. He's very extreme. I'm a bit more compassionate, a bit middle ground," said Shyne. "So, Mase and I weren't agreeing on everything. But we agreed on [both dating her]. So, if I was capping, he would have said, 'Nah, Shyne. I don't remember it like that.'

He continued, “He and I remember it the same way. Clark Kent remembers it the same way. So, but you know what? Happy Women's Month."
