Mase Recalls Shyne Beating Up Diddy's Very Large Security Guard: 'Everybody Lost Respect'

Mase also claimed that the Bad Boy Records founder attempted to pit him and Shyne against each other.

Mase recalled Shyne winning a fight with Diddy’s security guard.

The former Bad Boy Records artist turned Belizean politician was on the Monday (March 16) episode of Cam’Ron and Mase’s podcast It Is What It Is. Around the nineteen-minute mark of the video below, Mase recalled Diddy trying unsuccessfully to pit him and Shyne against each other.

“[Diddy’s] telling me about Shyne. I'm like, ‘Yeah, I hear you,’ but I'm just super arrogant at this time,” Mase recalled.

The podcaster and former pastor added that it seemed as though “everyone was trying to go against Shyne upon his signing to Bad Boy. One primary issue was Shyne’s voice sounding similar to the late Biggie’s, which offended members of Junior M.A.F.I.A. Mase even reflected on the group attempting to jump Shyne in a recording session.

Shortly after discussing this, the show moved on to Shyne’s long-ago fight with a security guard. The rappers recalled visiting Atlanta when they were both signed to Bad Boy, and Mase noticing that Shyne had blood on his white t-shirt.

Mase recalled being told the reason: Shyne had just beaten up his label boss’ security guard.

Shyne acknowledged the memory with embarrassment, shaking his head in agreement while rubbing his eyes and laughing.

"He said, 'Nah, man. This n***a was out of pocket, man,’” Mase recounted Shyne saying. “…So now Puff is really tight ‘cause he beat up the security.”

Mase concluded by saying that the label’s camp “lost respect” for the security guard, who Shyne said was 6’6” — and, by connection, they lost respect for Diddy as well. In more recent times, Shyne has distanced himself from Diddy, who’s currently serving a four-year sentence for violating two counts of the Mann Act.

Earlier in the episode, Mase and Shyne discussed their past rivalry over R&B singer and actress Brandy, with Shyne comparing the mens’ rift to the one between Shaquille O’Neal and the late Kobe Bryant.
