Ray J will not tolerate anyone casually bringing up the dating history of his sister, Brandy, and he made that crystal clear after a recent episode of Cam'ron and Mase's It Is What It Is show.
The segment saw Mase and Shyne reflect on dating the R&B icon in the late '90s, with Cam'ron prompting the conversation.
Ray J jumped on social media with a heated response.
"Keep my sister's name out of your mouth, and if not, I'm gonna slap the fucking daylights out of you when I see you," he said. "One thing n****s ain't gonna do is talk shit about my sister without me going back on these big head ass n****s."
He also made it clear that he wasn't targeting any one person but the entire group involved in the conversation.
"Shyne, Mase, and Cam… I never had a problem with them," Ray J added. "But I saw some shit today where they gotta know that a n***a gonna come back strong… because a n***a is not gonna let a n***a say anything and laugh and giggle and joke about a n***a's sister without me going big."
The original discussion on the show was more reflective than critical.
Mase joked about his overlapping history with Shyne, saying, "I was special. He came in and wanted to be special, too, so I had to let him be special.”
Shyne added, "No lies told. He was Shaq… I was Kobe… I definitely did want to be special."
Shyne also described Brandy as his "dream girl," admitting he wasn't initially aware of her connection with Mase until mutual friends filled him in.
Brandy, now 47, has been revisiting her own past by once again taking the stage with Monica, her collaborator on 1998 hit “The Boy Is Mine.” The ‘90s icons toured last fall, and in July, they’ll perform together at Essence Fest in New Orleans.
