Soulja Boy's delay in paying damages in a sexual battery lawsuit has threatened his future royalty checks.
The rapper's former personal assistant and ex-girlfriend, identified in court records as Jane Doe, has filed a notice of her intent to put his rights to BMI music residuals up for sale to satisfy a $4.25 million civil judgment against him, according to TMZ.
Doe reportedly plans to sell to the highest bidder, unless there’s an objection from the “Crank That” rapper.
In April 2025, a jury found Soulja, real name DeAndre Cortez Way, liable for sexual battery, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress, sexual harassment, and nonpayment of wages. The verdict produced a judgment of just over $4 million in Doe's favor.
At the time, Soulja responded to the verdict by maintaining his innocence and announcing plans to file an appeal.
The sale of Soulja’s BMI licensing would redirect the revenue stream those royalties generate toward settling the debt to Doe. Selling the rights would not eliminate his catalog but reroute the income it generates through songs played on the radio and in television and film.
Doe's lawsuit, originally filed in 2021, said the romantic relationship that followed her work as a personal assistant turned violent. The exes dated on and off from 2014 to 2019, and in one instance, Soulja allegedly choked the woman and threatened her life when she refused to reconcile.
Soulja has denied all wrongdoing while acknowledging a relationship with Doe, who originally requested $73 million in damages.
