Bruno Mars hit the jackpot during his sold-out concert in Las Vegas but still made light of rumors about being deep in gambling debt.
In 2024, rumors circulated that the 16-time Grammy winner struggled with a mounting gambling debt at Park MGM, where he held a solo residency for nearly ten years. In 2022, Mars and Anderson .Paak headlined their residency An Evening With Silk Sonic at the Las Vegas resort.
Park MGM would ultimately deny that Mars was $50 million in debt at the resort, calling the allegations “completely false.” The Romantic musician would also joke about the rumors on several occasions, his most recent being alongside .Paak at the inaugural night of The Romantic Tour at Allegiant Stadium on Friday night (April 10).
“I hate to make this about me, but when I think about how much debt, I mean, how many steps it took to get here, I get emotional,” .Paak joked.
Mars responded by saying he’s “debt free” and “paid the casino off a long time ago,” and .Paak broke out into a praise dance.
Last July, Mars was a special guest during the Los Angeles concert of his “APT.” collaborator ROSÉ, and afterwards joked in an Instagram post that he was “almost out of debt.”
Mars has flourished in the Las Vegas scene over the years with his performances. He even opened The Pinky Ring by Bruno Mars, a cocktail lounge at the Bellagio, in 2024. Hours before kicking off his new tour, the pop artist was honored with a Las Vegas street renaming, a key to the city, an official day, and a parade.
“Bruno Mars isn’t just a global superstar—he’s one of the most electrifying performers of our time, and over the past decade he’s become an integral part of Las Vegas,” said Bill Hornbuckle, CEO & President of MGM Resorts International.
