Ama has participated in a TikTok trend of turning text messages into a song via AI.
The UK singer and songwriter took to social media earlier this month to share her version, which turned her ex’s texts into a catchy track using the AI tool Suno, which bills itself as “AI for music creators.” She titled the track “Fr u busy?”
While many of these sorts of videos only include the messages, Ama superimposed screenshots of her ex’s texts onto a video of herself mouthing along to the words.
Suno has been strongly encouraging the trend of having its product create finished songs from text message prompts, even releasing its own how-to video.
At one point during the conversation-set-to-music-by-machine, Ama’s ex says she reminds them of their grandma.
“I just was thinkin about her and it made me miss u,” the ex says. “I’m sayin she was v special. I be feelin the same about u.”
Ama responds, “U know that ain’t a thing if u say it to more than one girl,” prompting her ex to say, “Ngl i never said that to no one before. But if I did, Amaaa I swearr shes lying. Cuz I dont know who that is that would say that.”
After releasing her debut album, I Came Home Late, in 2023, the 28-year-old took a two-year hiatus. In 2025, she returned with the song “My Girl” and this year, dropped two singles: the Brent Faiyaz-featuring “Need It Bad” and her latest, “So…”
The latter track sees her transform into a man who opens up about his relationship regrets.
