Rapper NBA Ben10, real name Ben Fields, has suffered "irreversible paralysis” in the April shooting that Detroit rapper Allstar JR was arrested for, according to Houston authorities.
Harris County Court records first spotted by KPRC 2 Houston and reviewed by Complex show that Allstar JR, real name Jeremy Christopher Ford, is now facing a felony charge of aggravated assault - traumatic brain or spine injury. That charge, in a Texas state court, was announced last week, though the case is currently listed as inactive. Ford is also facing separate federal weapons charges for the same incident.
The complaint in the Harris County case says that the shooting “resulted in irreversible paralysis” for Fields. It says that authorities “learned from…Fields[‘] medical treatment team that he sustained a spine injury as a result of the shooting that has left him without sensation from the waist down.” His prognosis, the complaint continues, is “irreversible paralysis of the lower extremities.”
Allstar JR is accused of shooting NBA Ben10 during an altercation at a restaurant in Houston in April, with surveillance video showing a person identified as him fighting with several individuals who appeared to try to rob him. During the altercation, a gun seemingly fell to the floor, and Allstar opened fire on the individuals, shooting three people in the process. Investigators said that Ben10 was struck by the gunfire and fell to the floor. Allstar allegedly approached him, fired three more rounds at him at close range, and tried to fire the gun at his head before he realized he was out of ammunition. Police added that he pistol-whipped Ben10, spat on his face, and fled the scene.
Earlier this month, Ben10 was reportedly shot again in Baton Rouge, just weeks after the previous shooting in Houston. He has remained inactive on social media since the first shooting.
