Allstar JR has been charged in connection with a restaurant shooting that reportedly involved NBA Ben10.
According to a criminal complaint seen by Complex and filed on April 17, the Detroit rapper (real name Jeremy Christopher Ford), who is accused of opening fire inside a Houston restaurant earlier this month, is facing federal gun charges after investigators say the incident was caught on surveillance video.
Authorities say that Ford, whose official charge is being a felon in possession of a firearm, was jumped at a restaurant on Kirby Drive in Houston on the evening of April 8. Reportedly, several people approached him and appeared to grab his necklace and watch, leading to a scuffle.
After this, police say a handgun fell to the floor during the fight, which Ford picked up and began firing as people ran. One person collapsed after being shot, while numerous others escaped to the elevator.
The complaint states that Ford fired more shots in the direction of another person running away, before returning to an injured person on the floor and firing rounds at close range while they laid on the floor. He is also said to have allegedly pistol-whipped the person and spit on them before leaving.
The Department of Justice has released surveillance pics from the incident. In one, a man said to be Allstar JR can be seen standing over someone while firing a weapon. In a second photo, the person believed to be JR is seen standing near an elevator.
Following the shooting, Ford allegedly posted a number of videos on social media, taunting those involved. He also released a music video for a track called "Mob United," on which he can be heard apparently referencing the shooting.
The criminal complaint mentions that the Houston restaurant where the shooting took place is located on Kirby Drive, not its name. However, on "Mob United," Allstar JR name-checks the restaurant Confessions, which is located on that street. The complaint against JR says specifically that the song and video are “referencing the shooting at the restaurant,” and that the shooting seems to be reenacted in the clip.
“Shootout right there at Confessions, now I’m 2-0,” he raps.
Earlier this month, it was reported that NBA Ben10 was reportedly in critical condition after being shot multiple times during an altercation on the same night at the same restaurant.
According to KPRC, the family of the Never Broke Again affiliate (real name Ben Anthony Fields) confirmed he was one of two victims shot at the restaurant, after a chain-snatching incident led to a gun being fired in the establishment.
It has not yet been confirmed whether Ben10 was one of the victims allegedly shot by Allstar JR. Police told Complex that due to it being an ongoing investigation they are unable to disclose certain information.
After rumors began to circle online that NBA Ben10 was involved and had died, OG Monique, who is believed to be the mother of NBA YoungBoy affiliate OG 3three, took to Instagram to dispute the claims and confirm that the Baton Rouge rapper was, in fact, still alive.
"Ten is alert… Stop the made-up stories," she wrote.
