Latto confirms that a certain lyric in “Gimme Dat” off her new album is about Cardi B,
She was asked about their issues during a new interview with The Breakfast Club, which aired on Thursday (June 4) morning.
“Well, yes, it was about Cardi,” Latto said on the morning radio show, before explaining she recorded her album throughout her pregnancy.
She continued, “I was at an early stage in my pregnancy, and I rushed to the studio to do this [“ErrTime” remix] verse for her, in time for the first week sales [of her album Am I the Drama?]. Literally two days later, I'm seeing all over the internet, I'm being called ‘pussy.’
“I'm pregnant, emotions high … and it's someone I deadass looked at as a friend. Like, I understand this industry shirt first, too. But we was on a texting basis. So I feel like, ‘Yeah, you tweeted to the world, but we got each other number,’ you know? So then probably like two months later, something like that, she did text me, but by that time I'm like, ‘I'm not even thinking about that.’”
Latto then confirmed she hasn’t spoken to Cardi since the “ErrTime” remix was released in September 2025, but that she’s open to working things out.
“I'm open to the conversation,” Latto confirmed. “When? I don't know cuz I got a baby now, life done kept moving. The people [are] just now hearing that song but like I made that song when that was a topic in my life. It wasn’t no diss, that's just what was happening in my life. Like, you talking about buying Big Mama a bag? I don't need no damn bag.”
“And not to make up for calling me ‘pussy’ either,” quipped Jess Hilarious.
Latto answered, “Yeah. Especially in exchange for that. Like, I don't know. It just left a bad taste in my mouth. I was in the booth and that’s just what was happening.”
What Did Latto Say About Cardi B on her Big Mama album?
Latto appeared to address Cardi B on her new album Big Mama. On the song "Gimme Dat," she rapped, "Bitch said what? Let's clock it / Really got a Hermes store in my closet / Talkin' 'bout buyin' big mama a bag like my n***a ain't already bought it."
The lyrics seemed to reference a leaked audio clip from last fall that was alleged to feature a phone call between Cardi and Ice Spice's manager.
In the recording, a voice believed to be Cardi said, “l'mma beat her the fuck up. I'mma knock her the fuck out. All y'all. l'mma beat her ass. I'mma get Riot beat up by my n***as. Y'all gonna see what the fuck is up. Y'all think I'm fucking pussy ass Latto?”
Elsewhere on "Gimme Dat," Latto also rapped, "Wish a bitch would get in that booth / I'm callin' up PlaqueBoyMax."
How Did Cardi B Respond to the Leaked Audio?
After the audio circulated online, Cardi publicly apologized and denied having an issue with Latto.
She wrote on X, "I was ranting and hot at the moment but I fck with Latto HEAVY!! I respect everything about her including her team thats so sweet.. AND NOPE! I’m not too prideful to apologize to somebody I really respect so this my public apology and now ima privately buy her a bag.”
Latto's "Gimme Dat" lyrics about buying "Big Mama a bag" were widely viewed as a response to that apology.
Were Cardi B and Latto Previously on Good Terms?
Cardi B and Latto had previously maintained a working relationship.
Latto made a cameo in Cardi and Megan Thee Stallion’s music video for “WAP” in 2020. The two then collaborated on 2023’s “Put It On Da Floor Again” and reunited for a remix of Cardi's "ErrTime" two years later, less than a week before the leaked call surfaced.
Are Cardi B and Latto Feuding Now?
Neither Cardi B nor Latto have confirmed a feud. However, Latto's lyrics had fans on both sides of the aisle believing that their relationship is now strained.
After announcing her pregnancy in March, Cardi congratulated her on Instagram, writing, “Super buteee congrats [two heart emojis].” It’s unclear if Cardi, who was in the midst of her Little Miss Drama Tour, was invited to Latto’s baby shower—which was attended by Usher, Angel Reese, Sexyy Red, and more, per TMZ.
If Latto’s past statements are anything to go by, a reconciliation between Latto and Cardi might not be off the table. In fact, Latto seems open to one day patching things up between herself and anyone with whom she’s had issues.
On an October 2025 episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Latto was asked if she would be willing to “work things out” with idol-turned-rival Nicki Minaj.
“I’m open to rekindling with anybody,” Latto said at the time.
