Fetty Wap says that after he went to prison, the one person who truly stood by him was his sister.

The 34-year-old rapper made the admission on Sunday’s episode of the Million Dollar Worth of Game Podcast after talking about the moment he was arrested and the reality of going to federal prison after his drug trafficking case.

When asked what went through his mind about support while facing prison time, the “Trap Queen” rapper (born Willie Maxwell II) said the first person he thought about was his sister, Divinity Maxwell-Butts.

“When that time happened, I'm just like ‘Alright, you know what? I got my sister,’" he said near the five-minute mark in the video linked here.

He was then pressed on why he did not mention friends or associates he once helped.

In his words, Fetty said, “Don't get me wrong, I got love for a lot of my n****s... On the outside, they'll do anything for me. When you present, everybody will do anything for you. But when you not around, you on their time now."

He contrasted that with his sister's actions during his legal troubles, describing how she continued handling issues related to his case while managing major changes in her own life.

“My sister moved on my time while she was dealing with a new husband, a new baby, pregnant, running around handling warrants and shit for me so my points could come down," Fetty added.

Fetty said he had warned Divinity many times that his lifestyle could lead to an arrest. He also described the constant paranoia that comes with being involved in the streets, saying you are always watching your surroundings. According to him, people who live that life know their neighborhoods closely and must stay alert at all times.

When the arrest finally happened, he said emotions were high at first but quickly turned into action, and the person who stepped up immediately was Divinity.

Fetty Wap received a six year federal prison sentence after pleading guilty to a drug trafficking conspiracy tied to a network that distributed cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and crack cocaine across parts of the U.S., including Long Island and New Jersey. The case stemmed from a federal indictment filed in October 2021 alleging the operation moved large quantities of drugs between June 2019 and June 2020.

He was initially released on bond but was taken back into custody in August 2022 for violating the terms of his release. After later pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess and distribute cocaine, he was sentenced in May 2023 to six years in prison.

Although he was originally expected to remain behind bars until 2029, his release date was moved up several times, and he was transferred from federal prison to home confinement on January 7, 2026.
