At long last, Ari Lennox is back, and her new era is shaping up to be her most memorable yet.
On Thursday, Oct. 23, the R&B hitmaker announced her third studio album Vacancy, set for release early next year. Ahead of the release of Vacancy, Lennox has released its sultry title track as its lead single. In tandem with Thursday’s announcement, Lennox revealed the next single, “Under the Moon.”
“Under the Moon” features Lennox embracing romance over a slow, punchy beat, allowing herself to be vulnerable with a newfound love interest. “Felt his suspicious mystique/something’s giving me the creeps/now I’m trippin’/I’m so smitten,” she sings on the song’s pre-hook, before emulating a werewolf under the moon — displaying the depth of her vocal talents.
Vacancy will also feature Lennox reuniting with producers Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox, the minds behind her hit single “Pressure.”
According to Apple Music, Vacancy will contain 15 tracks, including “Under the Moon,” “Vacancy,” as well as the previously released “Soft Girl Era.” Vacancy marks Lennox’s first album under her new deal with Interscope Records after departing from J. Cole’s Dreamville imprint. It’s also her first album in nearly four years — her last being her sophomore album Age/Sex/Location, which dropped in 2022.
At the time of writing, Lennox has not revealed any vocal collaborations for the album, but fans may get some more surprises in the coming days. Lennox is set to perform at One Music Fest at Piedmont Park in Atlanta this Sunday, and teased in her Instagram Story — from her new “Vacancy Motel” account — that attendees may be able to look forward to “a Vacancy themed surprise.”
Fans can pre-order Vacancy now and look forward to hearing the album in full on Friday, Jan. 23, 2026.
