Jermaine Dupri doesn’t think he fumbled Janet Jackson. On the contrary, he actually doesn’t even know what fumbling is.

Dupri spoke with Nessa on Hot 97 about “fumbling” Jackson after their longtime relationship ended in 2009. “I don’t know what a fumble is, though,” when asked about the situation. “I be trying to figure out why y’all don’t say she fumbled me.”

“I’m not something that you just let roll down the street,” he added. “I don’t look at it like that. I look at it like it’s a relationship, and we were together for eight years.”

Check out Dupri’s comments around the 13-minute mark below.

Dupri’s response goes against his comments last year when he responded to a fan on X who said that he fumbled the R&B singer. After Dupri asked his followers a question about event sales, one user responded by saying, “Jermaine we not answering questions from anyone that fumbled Janet Jackson.”

Instead of snapping back, Dupri wrote, “Whew whew you just said something !!”

In a Million Dollaz Worth of Game interview, Dupri opened up about their relationship and how he didn’t want her to think he had a hidden agenda when they started hanging out.

“It wasn’t about no music shit,” he explained. “I was just on some like hang out. I wasn't on no music shit, though. I never wanted to produce her. We got in an argument about me not producing her because she was around me watching everybody else get hit records. I never wanted her to think that's what my agenda was. ’Cause so many people was saying that... When Janet met me she got picked up from the airport in a [Bentley] Continental T. … It wasn’t never no situation where I wanted her to believe that I was trying to do this."

In 2022, Dupri appeared in Jackson’s self-titled documentary and spoke candidly about their relationship and breakup. Although she wanted to start a family with the legendary producer, Jackson changed her mind when she heard that he was allegedly cheating on her. Dupri admitted that he was “reckless.”

"Girls wanted to talk to me more because I was dating her, which was really weird,” he said in the documentary. And I was a man."
