Travis Hunter of the Colorado Buffaloes has won the 2024 Heisman Trophy, and EA Sports is celebrating the accomplishment in a major way.
On Saturday, Hunter beat out Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, Miami quarterback Cam Ward, and Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel for the coveted title. Hunter had already won several awards throughout the year, including the Walter Camp Award, the Biletnikoff Award, and the Bednarik Award, and he was named the AP College Football Player of the Year.
EA Sports is honoring Hunter's win by blessing him with his own nickname, "The Cheat Code," and he will see his 97 rating in the College Football 25 video game jump up to a 99, where he'll be the only player to have that since the football game franchise returned earlier this year. Fans will get a chance to play with the 99-rated Hunter in Play Now, Road to Glory, and Dynasty modes starting this weekend.
If that weren't enough, EA Sports will also launch a special limited-run exclusive apparel to celebrate Hunter's Heisman triumph. The gaming company will sell 1,212 "The Cheat Code" t-shirts in honor of Hunter's jersey number. Fans can purchase the limited apparel here.
Hunter has a strong relationship with EA Sports, which developed thanks to the NIL deals that allowed college athletes to receive compensation for the use of their name, image, and likeness. Along with Quinn Ewers and Donovan Edwards, Hunter was the first college athlete to be featured on an EA Sports cover.
EA Sports also named Hunter an ambassador for its company and recently shared the stats that players have racked up using him in the game. So far, Hunter is the top wide receiver in the game with touchdowns scored, and players have racked up a combined 13.1 billion yards with him. Hunter is also in the top 10 for interceptions on defense.
