Steph Curry has revealed that, despite his success in the NBA and beyond, he still wrestles with uncertainty in himself.
In a new interview with CNBC, the Golden State Warriors point guard opened up about experiencing impostor syndrome and moments of self-doubt.
"I'm human like everybody," Curry said. "You have doubts about yourself, or you have impostor syndrome at times."
When asked if he still experiences those feelings despite his massive success, Curry admitted, "At times, yeah." But the source of his anxiety isn't always basketball. Instead, it often stems from juggling his many responsibilities, such as his family and business dealings.
"It's an idea of, 'Are you doing everything you can to take care of people that are relying on you?'" he explained. "Are you fulfilling your full potential in all different areas that I've set out to do? [...] We all like to be a better husband, a better father, more present at times, just because we're pulled — I'm pulled — in a lot of different areas [...] Those are daily commitments, daily thoughts that you have to weave through."
Curry isn't just a basketball legend. Off the court, he's a husband to cookbook author and entrepreneur Ayesha Curry and a father to their four children, including newborn son Caius, born in May. He also runs a media company, a youth golf league, a bourbon brand, and a philanthropic foundation supporting students in California.
Even with all of these accomplishments, Curry says the pressure to maintain balance and live up to expectations weighs on him—something his wife Ayesha has also acknowledged in the past. In February, Ayesha told PEOPLE that hard work and honest communication keep their partnership strong.
"Any move that's going to be made starts in our little internal, two-person circle," she said. "It's so embarrassing...I feel like business talk is foreplay for us. Like, 'So what's going on in your world? What's going on in yours?' I love it. We literally bounce off of each other."
