Caitlin Clark on Being Compared to Paige Bueckers: 'We’re Completely Different Players'

Bueckers previously called the Indiana Fever guard a "phenomenal" player.

Caitlin Clark gave a diplomatic response when asked about comparisons between her and fellow WNBA star Paige Bueckers.

The Indiana Fever guard next plays against Buecker's Dallas Wings on June 27, but the athletes have drawn comparisons since their days of college ball.

Clark, who's in the top 10 of WNBA season leaders, spoke about Bueckers in a Bustle interview published on Wednesday (May 21). According to Clark, the media will "always" make comparisons to her opponent.

"So you just [have to] believe in yourself, believe in your abilities, and have confidence in what you’re going to do," she said. "It’s never about comparing [yourself] to somebody before you or somebody that will come after you."

She continued, "At the end of the day, it’s [about] how you are going to help your team? How are you going to help yourself get better?"

The question stemmed from Bueckers referencing Clark as a "phenomenal player" in a TIME interview published earlier this month.

"We’re also completely different players," Bueckers continued, adding that the comparisons are "good for the game."

"At the end of the day, I don’t think either of us really cares about it, because we’re just trying to be the best versions of ourselves," she added.

But Clark's most tense rivalry in the league is against Angel Reese, whom she flagrant fouled in a game against the Chicago Sky last week.
