Lamar Odom has issued a statement following his DUI arrest over the weekend.
"I am learning from this experience and remain committed to my continued growth," Odom told TMZ Sports. "I've worked hard to rebuild my life, and taking responsibility is an essential part of that process."
He added, "I am cooperating fully, staying honest, and focused on moving forward with integrity. Thank you to those who continue to support me."
He denied to the outlet that he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of his arrest.
On Saturday, the former NBA player was pulled over in Las Vegas. In addition to a DUI, he was also given two traffic violations for driving over forty-one miles per hour over the speed limit and failure to maintain his driving lane.
The 46-year-old has a history of drug and alcohol abuse. He was previously arrested for a DUI in Los Angeles in 2013, and two years later, he suffered an overdose at a Vegas brothel. Though his then-wife, Khloé Kardashian, had already filed for divorce in 2013, she stayed by his side during his recovery; the pair later finalized their divorce in 2016 after seven years of marriage.
"I remember on my way to that damn brothel, I remember being upset that I didn’t have any cocaine to take to the brothel,” he said on the Australian radio show Kyle & Jackie O Show last January. “I had just signed the divorce papers, and I thought I was just gonna go all the way in.”
He recalled having "twelve strokes and six heart attacks" at the time. He remained in a coma for four days following the drug binge, and he couldn't "walk or talk" after waking up in the hospital.
